Waking up for that 5am Class

Sunrish By Elise Smith - Rebalance Pilates and Yoga

I love mornings! I could not think of anything better then waking up at 4am to start my day! However, this is not always an easy task, especially when it’s freezing cold and dark outside. Waking up for that 5am class is possible! Here are a few tricks to making that morning just that little bit easier:

  • Set everything out the night before

I bet you have all heard this one before, but how true is it? If my clothes, shoes and bag is ready to go all I must do is roll over, dress and go. If I don’t set out my things the night before I’m usually laying in my bed just thinking to myself “oh man I have to get this ready… I must look for this… I don’t even know where that is”. I find that clutters my mind before I’ve even begun my day.

  • Wear Tights to Bed

Come on, how is this not the perfect idea? Instead of just having them out ready to go if you’re wearing them it a) saves you the effort of having to put them on and b) saves you from freezing in the process. Clever!

  • Turn the light ON

Of course, when it’s dark it’s easier to go back to sleep or even just say “5 more minutes please” in that pleading voice with yourself. But if you can reach for that snooze button I’m sure you can reach for that light switch instead. Now some of you may have partners that don’t want that light on, I usually will get up and go to the toilet and turn the light on. So not only have I just turned that light on but I’m now out of bed and ready to go.

  • Drink water

Your body has been asleep for the past 7 hours, it has been dehydrating! Fill that tummy up with a cup of water, you will feel that little bit refreshed!

  • Wear that DRESSING GOWN!

This is my favourite tip! Seriously, you will not see me at 4:30am without mine on throughout winter. I find no joy in being cold so why not make sure I’m nice and warm. No one will judge at all, after all we are just one big family!

I hope these helps because it is what gets me through each 5am start that I may have! Now maybe someone could write how to make it through till 8pm at night 😛

Well said Elise! I definitely agree that half the battle with early morning classes is having everything out and ready, including the keys to the garage. Might see how it goes with the dressing gown challenge as it gets colder… Cheers Tracy ❤️❤️
