Meet Kelly

Hi! My name is… Kelly Mortensen

How long have you been a part of the Rebalance family? I joined Rebalance just over two years ago as a manager and instructor

How long have you been an instructor for? I have been instructing Pilates, group fitness and barre for 6 years and before that, dance for 8 years

When did you start doing pilates/yoga/barre and when did you start instructing it? I started dancing as a young girl and took up Pilates 12 years ago at 14 years of age as part of my dance training and hamstring tear rehabilitation

What do you enjoy the most about pilates/yoga/barre? I love the feeling I get when doing Pilates and Barre – the endorphin rush, the concentration and control I can feel my body having and the knowledge that this form of exercise is safe and effective for my individual body. And I’ll admit, I love the burn and the challenge! I love yoga for it’s calming benefits and mind cleaning as I am a very highly strung person naturally

What studios do you instruct at? I am the Training Manager for the Rebalance company so am across all instructors and studios as well as training new instructors and helping them at the start of their instructing journey. I currently teach my own classes at Stafford, Mt Gravatt and Hendra

Her Likes & Dislikes….

What do you loooove about your clients? I love the energy, enthusiasm and dedication that our amazing clients bring to every class. They never fail to make me smile and feel inspired

What exercise is your favourite? My favourite exercise is the Butt and Ball Series in Barre (no surprise to the clients who attend my classes), and my favourite Pilates exercise is anything involving the gluts!

What exercise is your least favourite? I have an allergy to calf raises on the Reformer

Random Facts

What is something that your clients wouldn’t know about you?  Before I started training as an instructor my ultimate dream was to be on Broadway and in musicals as a singer/dancer. My passion was musical theatre and I dedicated over 10 years of my life to training in it.
